Road Construction Materials and Construction Technologies Training Course
Introduction:
While reducing the need for "natural" resources, an inventive roadway sector offers a sizable market for the use of "waste" resources. Previously destined for a landfill, specific waste streams and industrial byproducts are increasingly finding their way into sustainable highway design and maintenance.
Resources that were once considered raw materials are now increasingly included as "waste" in base courses, embankments, concrete, and asphalt pavements. Materials such as reclaimed concrete and asphalt, scrap tires, plastics, steel slag, roofing shingles, coal fly ash, and composted municipal organic wastes have been shown to be reliable, economical, and highly efficient in the construction of roadways.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this Road Construction Materials and Construction Technologies training course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the road materials and material properties in construction and materials used in road pavements and etc.
- Enumerate the different types of asphalt mixtures as well as the design of asphalt concrete mixture which also applies testing, specification of methods and marshal method
- Implement quality control and quality assurance in road construction
