A typical transmission and distribution system consists of key elements, including transmission lines, distribution lines, substations, and switchyards. Transmission lines have the role of transporting electricity from the power generation plant, where it is produced, while distribution lines are responsible for delivering electricity to residential, commercial, and industrial establishments where it is consumed.

Course Objectives:

This program is designed to provide employees who must work in or around substations with a comprehensive understanding of the operation, equipment, and procedures associated with substations. The course will consist of a discussion of general safety processes and procedures to be followed when entering substations. Further study will cover the areas of substation protective relays, switching operation and procedures, substation switchyards, metering, substation batteries, and transformers.
