Underwater inspection and NDT Course
Introduction:
The process of magnetic particle inspection (MPI) crack testing is employed to assess the size and severity of cracks in ferrous metals that may not be easily visible. In situations where the crack's edges are identified, additional preventive measures like the stop drilling technique may be necessary.
MPI crack testing can be conducted in either wet or dry conditions, utilizing FN Diving's UV crack testing system for magnetic particle inspection (MPI) alongside competent personnel. Certain cracks may extend beyond the waterline, necessitating the deployment of MPI systems both above and below the waterline, which can be achieved with our specialized equipment.
Course Objectives:
Upon the successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:-
- Have a very good background in underwater cutting and welding techniques.
- Review & improve the underwater cutting techniques and be able to know the operation, requirements, advantages & disadvantages as well as the material consumption of oxygen-arc cutting technique.
- Identify the electrode amperage & oxygen requirements of exothermic electrodes and understand the materials required for Kerie cable.
- Learn the operation and materials used for the underwater shielded metal-arc cutting techniques.
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of underwater welding including the mechanical barriers, shielded metal-arc welding, wet welding, and shipbuilding materials.
- List the materials used in underwater shielded metal-arc welding and be able to emphasize the procedures & techniques for underwater shielded metal-arc welding.
- Identify the various underwater arc cutting and welding equipment used and be able to determine the different welding accessories applicable for underwater cutting and welding.
- Recognize the importance of safety in underwater cutting and welding and be able to explain the general precautions for underwater cutting and welding.
- Emphasize the importance of personal safety in diving using the diving dress.
- Learn the underwater cutting equipment used and be able to demonstrate the procedure on cutting underwater with a thermic lance.
- Know MAPP gas cutting, loss of voice communications, and friction stud welder.
